The single-terminal facility of Granada Airport (GRX) provides a popular gateway into the popular region of Andalusia. This airport serves domestic flights only, with the vast majority of flights coming in from Barcelona and Madrid.

Located next to Fuente Vaqueros and Chauchina, Granada's Airport is officially known as the Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport and lies nearby the municipalities of Almunécar, Láchar and Santa Fé. Annual passenger figures are not especially high at around one million per annum (20,000+ flight operations), and so Granada's Federico Garcia Lorca Airport is never stretched beyond capacity and therefore able to provide a speedy and efficient service. The summer season is always the busiest time, when hoards of holidaymakers arrive.


Public buses run from Granada Airport to the city centre, while taxis and hotel shuttles provide the only other ground transfer options aside from rental cars. Hiring a car at the airport is one of the easiest ways to reach the resorts along the famed Costa del Sol, such as nearby Benalmádena, Estepona, Fuengirola, Malaga, Marbella, Rincón de la Victoria and Torremolinos.
